About The Role

St Leonard’s is a warm, inclusive and progressive Anglican church with children and young people at the heart of our community. We are seeking a passionate and servant-hearted Children & Young People’s Lead to provide vision, leadership and spiritual depth to our thriving CYP ministry.
You will be a practising Christian with love for God and all people , experienced in children’s or youth work, and have a heart for helping young people grow in faith, hope and love.
We offer a supportive staff team, a wonderful volunteer base, and a flexible term-time role that can work around other commitments.
We are a fully LGBTQ+ inclusive church.
Enhanced Plus DBS required.

• Lead and shape our ministry with children and young people
• Equip and encourage a large, committed volunteer team

• Integrate CYP fully into the worship and life of the church
• Organise key events including First Communion preparation and our annual youth residential

Person Specification
Personal Qualities
• A mature Christian faith, with the ability to communicate it imaginatively and relevantly to young people.
• Deep care for the central place of children and young people in church life.
• Servant-hearted leader and outstanding team player.
• Passionate about children’s and youth ministry and developing young people’s gifts.
• Relational, approachable and able to connect easily with children, young people, parents and volunteers.
• Creative, adaptable and well organised.
• Good sense of humour and humility.
Skills & Experience
• Formal qualification and / or experience in children’s or youth work.
• Experience working with children, young people, parents and volunteers (ideally within a church context).
• Experience planning and delivering engaging programmes for young people.
• Strong communication and teaching skills.
• Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
• Thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures and relevant legislation.
• Experience implementing safeguarding and health & safety best practice.
