Are You Struggling with the impact of racial trauma?
Racial trauma can leave deep emotional scars, affecting your mental health, wellbeing, and sense of self. As GMH/UKME clergy, we recognise the burden of racial discrimination, microaggressions, and systemic injustice and how heavily this can weigh on your mental and emotional wellbeing, especially as you strive to lead others.
The ‘Healing Together’ service is here to help you heal, and to continue your vital work with renewed strength. The service is provided by Inchange, a group of expert facilitators and consultants with deep social justice, therapeutic healing and eco-spiritual roots.
Our dedicated trauma-informed support service is being launched on 10 October 2024. The pilot funding will allow for 7 people to have one-to-one coaching support for six sessions. If the pilot is successful, the Diocese will apply for further funds.
Our approach
The coaching support offers up to six trauma-informed 1-to-1 coaching sessions to explore experiences of racism and discrimination, survival responses, and patterns around trust, conflict and change in a therapeutic space.
These spaces are specifically designed to ensure:
- your identity is catered to
- it becomes possible to break deeply rooted patterns of disembodiment and cognitive dissonance
- a trauma-informed specialist sanctuary for healing, processing, and rebuilding confidence.
What you can expect from 1-to-1 coaching:
- Spiritual and Emotional Support: Engage in confidential, individual sessions with our trained professionals to explore your experiences of racism and discrimination, survival responses and patterns around trust, conflict and change.
- Empathy and Expertise: Our coaches provide support in a safe and non-judgemental space to reflect on how race and racism plays out in work and community.
- Healing: Use somatic practices that help explore historical and conditioned physical and emotional responses.
- Holistic Approach: Our service integrates coaching support with spiritual care, recognising the importance of faith in your healing process. We provide tools and strategies to help you maintain spiritual vitality while navigating the pressures of ministry and racism.
