Every parish and community is different, and new opportunities for mission call for churches to renew and strengthen their life, worship and outreach in ways that reflect their local context.

The Strategic Mission Programmes support parish revitalisation by helping churches grow in confidence, develop sustainable mission and reach people who are not currently connected to a local church. In some places this may involve starting a new worshipping community, planting a new congregation or developing a fresh expression of church. In others, it may focus on strengthening an existing parish, renewing local leadership or creating new opportunities for people to explore faith and belong.

This work is rooted in collaboration. Churches are encouraged to work together, share leadership and learn from one another so that parish mission can be revitalised in ways that are sustainable and shaped by the needs of their local communities.

The aim is not simply to create new congregations, but to help parishes become thriving Christian communities where more people can encounter Jesus Christ, grow in faith and take part in the life of the Church.
