London is getting its own portal where you’ll be able to run or join a Youthscape Essentials course for free (otherwise £95/church).
YSE is brilliant for getting volunteers trained in essential aspects of youth ministry – and feedback has been highly positive. With a diocesan license, our hope is that the course will be hosted by at least ten churches across the diocese with an open invite for others nearby to join. If your church is looking for an easy way solution for volunteer training and you’d like to help train others, you’re an ideal host.
We’ve invited Gillian Austin from Youthscape to run through what you’ll get access to, share ideas for how the course can be run (it’s very flexible) and how to get started. You can see a preview of the YSE portal here but we invite you to join us for an initial online tour and Q&A just for London churches on 26 February at 14:00.
Register to join the “Find out more” call
We will help any hosts get the word out to your Area or Deanery and we plan to include a section in these emails listing courses planned, so people can see where courses are running near them.
YSE is a great resource for any church that:
-
Wants to build their volunteer team’s confidence, or numbers of volunteers
-
Is looking for ideas for getting something started for young people
-
Has a vicar who completed the Launchpad course
In a few weeks we’ll be sharing the details around how to gain access to the portal, but for now, we invite you to join the demo call.
Why Youthscape Essentials?
The church has a rich history of youth groups and projects for the benefit of tens of thousands of young people across the UK. Most of these are run by volunteers who give up their time in evenings and over weekends to make youth activities possible. But so much has changed in youth culture and experience that up-to-date training is essential. That’s why we’ve developed Youthscape Essentials. Over the last three years a team of youth ministry practitioners, young people and existing youth work volunteers have created and tested a completely new approach to training. Built around the three key themes of insights, skills and faith, there are thirty key topics which cover almost every aspect of volunteering. Step-by-step you’ll grow in your capacity and confidence to work alongside young people. And as the world continues to change, new research will inform the course and it will change too – keeping you up-to-date and equipped as a volunteer.
