About The Role

This is a varied role supporting the day-to-day administration and practical running of the church. Responsibilities include preparing Orders of Service and other printed materials, assisting with basic financial administration, maintaining records and databases, helping to digitise safeguarding processes, and providing general administrative support.

The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and administrative skills, good attention to detail, and be confident using Microsoft Office and Outlook. They should have good written and spoken English, be trustworthy and discreet, and be comfortable working collaboratively as part of a small team. A willingness to learn new software and undertake safeguarding and other relevant training is also important.

St Simon’s has a conservative evangelical ministry. An understanding of and sympathy with orthodox Biblical Christianity is desirable, and the post-holder will need to respect the beliefs and ethos of the church and work harmoniously and supportively with the ministry team. Familiarity with Church of England liturgy and the church year would be an advantage.

The Assistant to the Administrator will support the smooth day-to-day administration and practical running of the church. Duties will include:
Preparing, printing, folding and producing online versions of Orders of Service for Sunday services and other services and events.
Sending Orders of Service to the relevant Ministry Team member.
Preparing the weekly mailing for housebound members of the congregation.
Preparing cheques for signature and maintaining the associated Excel records.
Printing materials, including annual APCM packs and Free English resources.
Maintaining the Funeral and Memorial Register.
Supporting the digitisation of safeguarding processes under supervision.
Taking occasional utility meter readings.
Being available on site to meet workmen and contractors when required.
Providing general administrative support and undertaking other reasonable tasks as required by the Administrator.

Essential

The successful candidate will:
Have excellent organisational and administrative skills.
Be computer literate, with good typing skills and confidence using Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Be willing and able to learn new software for administrative and communication purposes.
Be able to compile, maintain and work with electronic databases.
Have excellent attention to detail.
Have fluent written and spoken English.
Be honest, trustworthy and able to maintain confidentiality.
Be able to work effectively with others to complete tasks.
Be willing to undertake safeguarding and other training required by the church.
Be able to respect the conservative evangelical beliefs and ethos of St Simon’s and work harmoniously and supportively with the church ministry team.

Desirable
An understanding of and sympathy with orthodox Biblical Christianity.
Familiarity with the liturgy of the Church of England and the pattern of the church year.
Previous experience in an administrative or church-based role.
