About The Role
We are looking for a passionate, creative and organised Children and Families’ Worker, to join our team and run our Children’s Church.
The successful candidate will be someone who loves Jesus and loves helping children to explore faith, as well as someone who can build relationships in the local community.
The role is part-time (21 hours per week), but for the right candidate could be combined with our Parish Administrator vacancy (14 hours per week) to make a full-time role. The role is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure and there is a Genuine Occupational Requirement for the postholder to be a practicing Christian.

1. To run Children’s Church on Sunday mornings in term-time, including managing a volunteer team and delivering sessions that enable faith to flourish.
2. To develop a second group for Children’s Church for older children and build a volunteer team and curriculum for this older group.
3. To plan and deliver monthly all-age services, together with the Vicar.
4. To run a monthly Bubble Church service and carry out the associated support work.
5. To help run Tufnell Tots (stay-and-play) on Thursday mornings during term-time.
6. To build on the relationship with the two local primary schools, Tufnell Park Primary and Yerbury, through involvement in lunch clubs, assemblies and school visits.
7. To assist with termly community events that build the church’s relationship with the wider parish e.g. Pancake Party, Fireworks Party, Back to School Party.
8. To look to develop other opportunities to share faith in creative ways with local children and families, such as through after-school activities or holiday clubs.
9. To ensure the safeguarding policy and practices are followed and assist with safeguarding administration.
10. To build relationships with parents in the congregation, in order to understand their children’s needs and to involve them in shaping activities to support and develop the children’s faith.
11. The post holder will at all times need to ensure that they act within the law and that they uphold the church’s policies and procedures which cover, for example, safeguarding, health and safety, data protection and equality of opportunity.
Essential:
1. Love of Jesus Christ and desire to help children to discover Christian faith and grow in their understanding and experience of God’s love.
2. Good knowledge of the Bible and experience of sharing Bible stories with children.
3. Ability to plan and deliver a variety of sessions including e.g. school assemblies, all age services, children’s church.
4. Effective communicator – verbally and in writing.
5. Strong understanding of safeguarding best practice.
6. A good team player and able to relate well to a wide variety of people.
7. Experience of volunteer management that has enabled volunteers to thrive.
8. Good organisational skills.
9. Ability to work in an inclusive way with children with additional needs and disabilities.
10. Commitment to promoting the ethos of the church.
Desirable:
1. Children’s work / Children’s ministry qualification.
2. Experience working with children from babies and toddlers through to youth.
3. First Aid qualification.
