First Graduation of Pioneer School

Last week the London Pioneer School celebrated its first graduation. This is the first time the Diocese of London has offered training for lay pioneers.

This year’s cohort included a wide range of pioneers, including prison visiting, setting up new monastic communities, a Christian community growing out of a charity shop, and setting up a prayer network across London.

Alex Cama, one of the graduating students, said:

“Pioneer School helped me deepen my understanding of what it means to be a pioneer and take the gospel to new places in new ways. It also gave me a supportive and friendly community in which to learn and be encouraged. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about pioneering whether lay or ordained.”

The school offers pioneers the chance to understand their calling, and gain the skills, knowledge and understanding to launch and lead pioneer expressions of church. It’s run in partnership with the Church Mission Society. Read more about the graduation celebration in this article by Jonny Baker.
