On Wednesday 11 September at All Hallows by the Tower, the Bishop’s Certificate in Christian Studies was presented to six of the eight students who completed the two-year course. The certificates were presented by Miles Baker, Director of Ministry.

The course, previously called the St Edmund’s Course in Christian Studies, takes students through the basics of the Christian faith and is open to anyone in the Diocese of London, but it can also be part of the pathway to becoming a Licensed Lay Minister.

If, while studying, students decide to undergo the discernment process to become a Licensed Lay Minister (LLM), they may do so. Five of the eight from this year’s cohort have been discerned as Licensed Lay Ministers and will continue for a further year to complete their training for this role.

In the photo are Dean Brett, Debby Johnson, Kirsten Lazarus, Paul Little, Blanche Mbanda and Hakan Sandal-Wilson, with the Rev’d Beki Rogers, course principal, and Martin Carr, LLM, Warden of LLMs in Two Cities and vice principal of the courses.

Two others who could not be present have also been awarded the Bishop’s Certificate – William Arthur and Karl Brooks.
