Asset Manager – help shape one of London’s oldest and most important estates
The London Diocesan Fund is seeking an ambitious property professional to join its Asset Management team at an important moment of change.
This is a rare opportunity to work with one of London’s oldest and most historically significant estates. The Diocese of London traces its origins to 604 AD. Today, the LDF supports the mission and work of the Church of England across London, serving parishes, clergy, schools, chaplaincies and local communities
We are advertising this opportunity across three possible levels and will make one appointment to the strongest affordable candidate. You may be an early-career surveyor seeking an APC pathway, a pre- or newly qualified property professional ready for more responsibility, or an experienced Asset Manager able to move quickly into a broad and influential role.
The successful candidate will help deliver the Diocese’s financial sustainability priorities: sales, new recurring income, savings, capital receipts and better use of the property portfolio. The role will initially support the mobilisation of a sales pipeline, before variously settling into a routine depending on the role appointed to.
To apply
Make initial enquiries to the Head of Asset Management: harry.torrance@london.anglican.org or 020 3837 5002
Submit your CV via email to humanresources@london.anglican.org along with a Supporting Statement that provides clear evidence addressing the criteria set out in the person specification. Your supporting statement should explain your motivation for applying for the role and provide clear examples drawn from your experience that demonstrate your ability to meet the criteria.
We are advertising this as one opportunity across three possible levels. Applicants do not need to decide the exact level themselves. The appointment level will be determined by experience, capability, affordability and the strength of applications.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on the level of appointment, responsibilities will include:
- Supporting or leading sales, capital receipt and income opportunities, including the mobilisation of a sales pipeline.
- Gathering and reviewing property, title, occupation, lease and site information.
- Supporting wider Diocese asset management work.
- Managing or assisting with lease renewals, rent reviews, licences, consents, recharges and insurance-related property work.
- Working with agents, consultants, clergy, PCCs, tenants and internal colleagues to improve performance and reduce risk.
- Preparing clear case summaries, reports, recommendations, risk updates and next steps.
- Maintaining accurate records, trackers and case files.
- Supporting market research, financial analysis, property data, ESG and Net Zero work where required.
- Contributing to a commercially astute, compliant and delivery-focused Asset Management team.
Please refer to the attached Job Description and Person Specification for the full details of the relevant responsibilities at each level.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone with a serious interest in London real estate and the ability to work well in a complex, mission-led environment.
Depending on the level of appointment, you are likely to bring:
- A Real Estate degree or equivalent relevant qualification.
- APC pathway commitment, MRICS status, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Interest in, or knowledge of, London commercial and/or residential real estate.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Understanding of UK property law and lease structures appropriate to your level.
- Good organisation, judgement and follow-through.
- Commercial acumen, curiosity and a desire to excel.
- Ability to work constructively with clergy, PCCs, tenants, agents, consultants and internal colleagues.
- Willingness to work on site and in the field as required.
- Right to work in the UK.
Experience in charity, ecclesiastical, public sector or complex stakeholder environments would be helpful, but is not essential.
Equal Opportunities
The Diocese of London is committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce which represents our context and wider community. We are aware that those of Global Majority Heritage/United Kingdom Minority Ethnic (GMH/UKME), women, and disabled people are currently under-represented among our clergy and workforce, and we particularly encourage applications from those with the relevant skills and experience that will increase this representation.
