A FREE, in person one day training on Thursday 12th November.
Venue: London Diocesan House, lunch provided.
Following on from a successful pilot, we are delighted to be able to offer this full day in person training again.
This training is for anyone involved in a compassion ministry or social action project within a church context.
We know churches are observing very high level of need at community ministries; many guests present with multiple complex needs including poor mental health. This provides challenges for churches who are not paid professionals in mental health; who are often running largely volunteer led community projects and events, and where open door community drop ins etc can lead to challenges in dealing with vulnerable adults, complex and often crisis needs.
Through a combination of group discussion, consideration of real-life case studies, and teaching from practitioners, this training addresses how church staff and volunteers can stay physically safe and emotionally well in challenging community ministry and social action contexts.
The training content will focus on the key themes of:
o Staying emotionally healthy & avoiding burnout
o Maintaining healthy boundaries & managing expectations
o Recognising complex needs & signposting
o Dealing with challenging behaviours & de-escalating
o Staying safe
The building is fully accessible; however please let us know on the booking form for any needs you have as we are keen to ensure this training is accessible for all.
There will be a limited number of places and booking will be available shortly.
