He helped found the Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement (LGCM), inspired the founding of Crisis at Christmas, worked with the Council for Christian and Jews; was a member of the General Synod, Chaplain to the Lord Mayor of London, and started the Inter-faith Group for the Terrence Higgins Trust. He was also a Governor of St John Cass Secondary School and of Oxford House in Bethnal Green.
