We are pleased to announce that the Vacancy in See Committee has elected the six Diocesan representatives, made up of clergy and laity, to join the Crown Nominations Commission (CNC). This is an important step in the process of appointing our next Diocesan Bishop.

The Committee is now finalising the Statement of Needs for publication, which will be made available here. Please continue to pray for wisdom and discernment for all involved.

The Diocese’s elected representatives to join the CNC are:

  • The Revd Adrian Clarke, St Barnabas, North Finchley
  • The Revd Sarah Jackson, Holy Trinity Brompton
  • Fiona MacMillan, St Martin in the Fields
  • Amanda McIntyre, St Mark the Evangelist, Noel Park
  • Brian O’Donoghue, St Peter-upon-Cornhill
  • The Revd Charlie Skrine, All Souls, Langham Place

Sarah Tett, Chair of the Vacancy in See Committee, said:

It has been remarkable to see how, in God’s kindness, such a large, diverse committee has been able to work so well with this common desire to secure a good successor to Archbishop Sarah as our new Bishop of London. Our consultation with the Diocese and our Committee discussions have found across parts of the diocese, and across church traditions, many common themes of opportunities seen, and of challenges needing to be faced. The drafting group of the Committee has worked hard to express all this in words and pictures. We look forward to sharing the fruit of our labours with the Diocese with the publication of the Statement of Needs.

The Statement of Needs is one of the pieces of consultation work drawn upon to develop the Role and Person Specification for the new Bishop of London by the Archbishops’ and Prime Minister’s Appointments Secretaries, Stephen Knott and Jonathan Hellewell. Last year, people across the Diocese shared their reflections through an online consultation, with over 1,000 submissions received about the opportunities and challenges of ministry and mission in London, and priorities and qualities for the next Bishop of London. In February 2026, an online public consultation meeting took place with the Appointments Secretaries, as part of the national process.
