The London Diocesan Fund (LDF) has received an independent fraud report from Crowe LLP, following the conviction of Martin Sargeant last year. Crowe’s report was commissioned by the LDF’s Audit and Risk Committee, and is available here.
The Court has, through the Proceeds of Crime Act, allocated remaining assets belonging to Mr Sargeant to specific churches known to have suffered loss, with the balance returned to the City Churches Fund. A further sum has been received from the main gambling company used by Mr Sargeant.
Churches and individuals impacted have been approached as part of the police investigation, and by Crowe during their inquiry.
