Right Where You Are
As part of our Capital Vision 2020, we are seeking to equip and commission 100,000 ambassadors representing Jesus Christ in daily life. This week, the Diocese of London has published a booklet for ambassadors called Right Where You Are. This has been written for us by Mark Greene, co-author of The Servant Queen, and Executive Director of the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity. The booklet is something that can be freely given to each person in every church in the lead up to, or after being commissioned as an ambassador.
The Bishop of Edmonton, sponsor of Ambassadors within Capital Vision 2020, has written to every parish in the Diocese this week, enclosing sample copies of Right Where You Are. He is encouraging each church to order copies for everyone and join in with our vision of equipping and commissioning ambassadors – right where you are.
In his foreword to Right Where You Are, Bishop Rob explains:
“Each day is a brand new opportunity to share something of God’s love, to join in with the work of the Holy Spirit, and to be good news to those around you. Whether you are a nurse, teacher, street cleaner, builder, beauty therapist or even a Bishop, whether you go to school, college, or meet others in the community centre, because of God’s unconditional love, you will make that difference to others around you. Your prayers and your confidence in Jesus Christ mean that London will change.”
Mark Greene adds:
“Few things could be more exciting than working to help God’s people be more fruitful in the places they ordinarily go and with the people they ordinarily meet. And I’m hoping and praying that the little booklet will help congregations and individuals to encourage one another in their daily adventure with Christ.”
Churches can order copes for their entire congregation from www.ambassadors2020.org/orders. The booklet is free and can be ordered online in bundles of 25. We simply ask churches to pay postage and packaging charges.
The booklet is part of a series of resources and events this autumn as we seek to equip and commission 100,000 ambassadors representing Jesus Christ in daily life. Inspired by our pilot churches, over 100 churches are already involved in equipping and commissioning ambassadors, and 14,000 people have been commissioned. By the end of next year, we’re seeking to reach over 300 churches involved with at least 40,000 commissioned, with a particular focus during Lent 2017.
Just some of the other resources available to churches this autumn are:
- A short promotional film introducing the idea of This Time Tomorrow
- Find Your Voice: a new four week course for ambassadors seeking to share their faith Book now
- The Character of Fashion: the first in the series of Multi-Talented God, an inspiring read exploring what an industry would look like if God was in charge. Read more
