We spoke to Dan Warner, Head of Housing, about what he enjoys about his role at the LDF and what inspires him in his spare time.

So, Dan, what is your role here at the LDF?

I’m Head of Housing, so my main responsibility is ensuring that clergy are housed safely and securely.
We need to make sure that we’re meeting all our obligations and regulatory requirements – and that covers everything from external works, to reactive repairs, to ingoing works (when people move in and out), to the quinquennials  – which is our five-yearly dilapidation surveys.

The biggest ones for us to keep on top of are gas and electrical safety.

We’re not technically landlords but that’s essentially how we operate.

How long have you been in the role?

Exactly two years.

What do you like best about your job?

I like helping people.
We’re dealing with people’s homes – which is very important.
So we’re trying to make sure that we do the best job we can for people – whatever that means, whether it’s getting things fixed quickly or making sure everything’s as it should be.

What do you like to do when you’re not at work?

I like Formula 1. And …testing out the pubs in St Albans…

There’s a few good ones there?..

There’s loads! I think per capita we must be doing alright!
