Last week, John Tasker, on behalf of ALMA and the Diocese, signed a book of condolence for the late president of Angola in the presence of the Angolan Ambassador. The message came from the Bishop of Edmonton on behalf of ALMA.
The message of condolence read:
‘Há mais de 20 anos que nutrimos o relacionamento entre as Igrejas da Diocese de Londres e as Igrejas de Angola em parceria, oração e projetos. Angola continua muito querida nos nossos corações e nas nossas orações. Enviamos, portanto, o nosso amor e condolências enquanto lamentamos a perda do ex-presidente José Eduardo dos Santos, e unimo-nos ao bispo André Soares e aos bispos recém-consagrados em Angola, em manter a igreja e a liderança política nas nossas orações, especialmente , nos próximos meses.’
Translated:
‘For over 20 years we have nurturing our relationship between the Anglican Church of London and the Anglican church of Angola in partnership, prayer and projects. Angola remains very dear to our hearts and in our prayers. We therefore send you our love and condolences as we mourn the loss of the former President José Eduardo dos Santos, and we shall join with Bishop Andre Soares and our newly consecrated Bishops in Angola in keeping all in church and political leadership in our prayers, especially, over the coming months.’
