On Sunday the 24th of November Mitzvah Day was celebrated, a day dedicated to acts of kindness and social action, the Bishop of Edmonton participated in a meaningful interfaith gathering, joining leaders from different faith communities to explore how they can work together to support those in need.

Mitzvah Day, an annual event observed by Jewish communities, encourages people of all backgrounds to come together and perform acts of kindness, fostering solidarity across different faiths and cultures. The theme of Mitzvah Day this year was “stronger together” which perfectly encapsulates the message that by coming together across different faiths and communities, we can create a more compassionate and resilient society, ready to support those in need.

This year the Bishop of Edmonton was joined by Rabbi Clive Baginsky and Imam Asim Hafiz at north-west London’s Hammerson House care home. The three leaders, alongside volunteers from their communities, gathered to sort and pack teabags for distribution to Food Bank Aid, an organisation that supports over 30 food banks across north-west London. The initiative not only provided vital support to those facing food insecurity, but also underscored the importance of interfaith collaboration in addressing social challenges.

Through their shared commitment to service, Bishop Anderson, Rabbi Banginsky and Imam Hafiz demonstrated how faith communities can come together to make a tangible difference in the lives of others, exemplifying the spirit of Mitzvah Day and the power of collective action for the common good.
