The Bishop of Berlin-Brandenberg has toured parishes in the Capital this weekend, continuing the longstanding partnership between the churches in London and Berlin.

On Saturday, Bishop Christian joined the Bishop of Fulham, the Rt Revd Jonathan Baker, at a service at St Mary’s Rotherhithe is in the Diocese of Southwark to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of Master Christopher Jones Jr, the Captain of the pilgrim ship The Mayflower.

On Sunday, Bishop Christian preached at Christ Church Isle of Dogs, a long-standing Berlin link parish. He then travelled to All Saints Margaret Street to join Fr Peter Anthony for Evensong and Benediction, before joining parishioners at a reception afterwards.

Bishop Christian’s final day in London began with prayer at St Paul’s Cathedral with the outgoing Dean of St Paul’s, the Very Revd David Ison. He then travelled to the Grey Coat Hospital School, a Diocesan Girl’s Comprehensive School, before making his way to Heathrow Airport to return to Berlin.

The Bishop of London, the Rt Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally DBE, said:

“Hosting Bishop Christian this past weekend was a joy, and a welcome reminder of the strength of the partnership between the Diocese of London and Berlin-Brandenberg. For over 20 years, clergy have travelled between these two great cities to deepen their unity in Christ through prayer, witness and service.”
