About The Role

Job Title: Cook for ASLAN
Contract: Temporary contract
Salary: £15.88 per hour (plus pension and National Insurance)
Department: All Souls Serve the City

We are seeking a cook to ensure we are able to extend generous hospitality to our guests each night in the form of healthy and varied hot meals. You would involve developing a menu, managing the supply and delivery of ingredients, and preparing meals for the week ahead that can be frozen ahead of distribution by our volunteer teams each evening.

Safeguarding: conditional offers will be made pending the successful completion of a basic DBS check.

– Plan and design a dinner menu, in consultation with the shelter manager, for 25 guests each night
– Order, organise and receive delivery of food
– Responsible for prepping the food and preparing meals that can be frozen to be served each evening
– Able to adapt menus to suit individual allergies and dietary requirements
– Able to cook a range of dishes from scratch, including mains, soups and puddings/cakes
– Able to assess the volume of food needed and prepare meals accordingly

– Able to problem solve and think on one’s feet
– Be trained and certified in the relevant hygiene training (or willing to do so)
– Have demonstrated experience cooking in an industrial kitchen
