About The Role

St Mary Abbots is a large, historic parish church in West London with a vibrant church community, full pattern of daily services, longstanding choral tradition, close relationship with the parish school, established civic link and community outreach. We wish to appoint a full-time, stipendiary (locally supported) Associate Vicar. This is a three-year post with accommodation in a two/three-bedroom cottage at St Mary Abbots Centre.

The Diocese of London is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults through the use of the Safer Recruitment practice guidance. This role is subject to acceptable pre-appointment checks, including a satisfactory Enhanced DBS Check.

We are looking for a dynamic and committed Associate Vicar who:

*is a team player, inclusive in theology and practice, who will work closely with clergy colleagues, parish staff and a wide range of volunteers, and will encourage and develop lay ministry

*has the Daily Office and the Eucharist at the heart of their own prayer life and Christian practice, and delights in leading and sharing in the choral and liturgical worship traditions of the Church of England

*is an inspiring, challenging and theologically articulate preacher

*has a heart for community outreach and will maintain and build on our active partnerships with local charities and organisations

*can take on the role of chaplain to our parish Primary School

*is keen to take the opportunity of working in a large and busy parish to engage with the strategic, organisational and administrative aspects of church leadership, participating fully in the life of the parish, Deanery, Area and Diocese

Equal Opportunities

The Diocese of London is committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce which represents our context and wider community. We are aware that those of Global Majority Heritage/United Kingdom Minority Ethnic (GMH/UKME), women, and disabled people are currently under-represented among our clergy and workforce, and we particularly encourage applications from those with the relevant skills and experience that will increase this representation.
