How are images of Jesus shaped by culture, history, and power? And how do these images, in turn, shape theology, identity, and discipleship?

Drawing on biblical studies, Black theology, and film, in this workshop you will be invited to critically reflect on the figure of Jesus and consider how faith is lived in contexts shaped by inequality and representation. Victoria Omotoso will inspire engagement with the meaning of ‘Black Jesus’ as a theological claim, and the influence of visual culture (especially film) on theology.

Dr Victoria Omotoso is a theologian, speaker, and author of Imag(in)ing Jesus (Bloomsbury, 2025), exploring the intersections of faith, culture, and lived experience. Her work engages public and academic audiences, translating complex ideas into accessible and impactful conversations.
