Online training from the Diocese of London’s HR team covering important changes to employment law that come into effect this year.

HR Support for Parishes

The HR Team at the London Diocesan Fund is here to support parishes who employ staff. This online training session will cover recent and upcoming employment law changes, with time allocated for questions.

Key Employment Law Changes from 2026

  • Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) will become payable from day one of sickness, with no lower earnings limit.
  • Paternity Leave and Unpaid Parental Leave will, in some cases, become Day 1 rights.
  • Whistleblowing protections will be strengthened, particularly for workers who raise concerns about sexual harassment.
  • Changes to Bereaved Partner’s Paternity Leave, allowing fathers or partners to take up to 52 weeks of leave if the mother or primary adopter dies within the child’s first year.
  • A new Fair Work Agency will be established to oversee and strengthen enforcement of employment rights.
