A brief summary of actions not covered in previous drop-ins can be read below:
Brief notes of discussions:
- Online concern forms – anonymous concerns are perfectly acceptable as they can help to build a local picture of concerns.
- There was lots of discussion about the Parish Safeguarding Hubs and agreed to be a very helpful and useful tool. Those who use it highly recommended engaging with the Hubs.
- Church of England resources page for up-to-date posters.
- People eligible for an enhanced DBS who have lived in the UK for less than ten years should follow the DBS process for an overseas DBS referencing the relevant country.
- Volunteers in a parish should have a volunteer agreement in place, such as this model volunteer agreement.
- Safeguarding for visiting choirs. If there are children present, then should do safer recruitment checks. Thos in charge of looking after those children should have an enhanced DBS check. Guidance on the safer recruitment of temporary paid workers and volunteers
General updates:
- The INEQE report has been received by the Diocese and is due to be published shortly. Parishes will be notified when it is published and it will also be found independently on the INEQE web pages here. Parishes were particularly thanked for their engagement with the process.
