What is it?

Join Your Direction, our free five-session workshop. Together we’ll explore the challenges and share tools to help you move forward with your life. It is a safe space where you’ll meet other young people in similar situations. No judgement, just support and practical skills. Built on real-life experiences of young people and expertise from counsellors and specialists. It’s not counselling but is an ideal complement to it.

When is it ?

The workshop has 5 sessions, running once a week on a Wednesday evening. It’s best if you can come to all five sessions.

Session 1 Wednesday 5 June – Having Your Say

Session 2 Wednesday 12 June – How to Feel Better

Session 3 Wednesday 19 June – Dealing with Change

Session 4 Wednesday 26 June – Letting Go

Session 5 Wednesday 3 July – Your Bright Future

What’s it like?

The workshop sessions are all online via zoom. There’s time to connect with the other guests as well as the leaders who have their own experience of separation or divorce either personally or in helping others (for instance a counsellor).

Each session includes lots of short videos which we discuss. The workshop covers the main issues faced by people in this situation, e.g. knowing who you can talk to, what to do with all the emotions, what to do if you’re caught in the middle and how to get on with your life ?

You can share as much or as little as you like about your own life. Your Direction is a safe space where you can speak to others in the same situation. Everything that is said in the sessions is private.

How much does it cost?

Your Direction is completely free to attend.

Who is it for?

Your Direction is for anyone aged between 18-30 years whose parents are splitting up. This includes parents from civil partnerships and unmarried couples, recent breakups as well as those that ended years ago.

Your Direction is not the same as counselling. It provides an opportunity for you to talk to people your own age who are facing similar situations and can therefore be an ideal support alongside counselling.

What you need to attend?

The workshop is free to attend. You will need internet access, a laptop, smartphone or tablet per participant, and a private space where you feel comfortable speaking.

Your Direction has been developed and delivered in partnership with the children’s charity Spurgeons. It is delivered by a team of trained volunteers from Restored Lives and has the necessary safeguarding processes in place.
