A thank you message from Bishop Sarah
‘2025 marks my eighth year as the Bishop of London. It is always such a privilege to spend time in our church communities, to see where the Spirit is moving, and where the teaching of Jesus is being shared and lived out.
I see people in our churches giving their time, their skills, and their financial resources. Whether as churchwardens, treasurers, PCC members, safeguarding officers, worship leaders, or members of the congregation, I am so grateful for all that you do. Thank you.
In the Diocese of London, we have over 500 churches, with more than 90,000 regular worshippers. The contributions of local churches to the Common Fund, along with income from investments and grants, enables us to provide ministry for churches in almost every community. Our vision is for every Londoner to encounter the love of God in Christ.
Our churches offer friendship to those who are lonely, isolated or navigating the hostilities of our immigration processes. I know how much time and effort goes into welcoming the stranger, caring for those in need, and safeguarding the vulnerable. Our churches are beacons of hope, witnessing to Christ’s challenging and transforming presence in every place and for every person.
In his second letter to the Corinthians, St Paul mentions the churches in Macedonia. In difficult times, by God’s grace, their generosity to others overflows. In that same spirit, we can reach every corner of this city with the message of God’s love. Thank you for all that you do to make this possible.’
