About The Role
We are a diverse, inclusive parish in North London and we value liturgical tradition alongside creativity, stillness and openness and we warmly welcome people from across the spectrum of church backgrounds. We are a well-resourced parish with an engaged Ministry Team, committed choir, active volunteers and flexible buildings, including our modern parish church and the historic St Mary’s Tower. Our recent Open Door project has improved accessibility and energised community engagement and we work closely with our church primary school and local YMCA hostel.
We are looking for a Rector who is:
• Formed in the Anglo-Catholic tradition and theologically inclusive,
• Able to engage a diverse congregation and has a vision for growth,
• A collaborative leader, able to nurture lay ministry and support curates,
• Pastorally attentive, with a heart for the vulnerable and marginalised,
• Able to work constructively with schools, charities and partner churches.
The rector will be on a full stipend with a spacious 4-bedroom rectory and beautiful garden very close to the church nestled between the vibrant neighbourhoods of Muswell Hill, Crouch End and at the edge of the leafy Alexandra Palace Park.
Hornsey is a parish of diversity and opportunity. We are praying for a Rector who will help us discern God’s call for the next chapter of our shared life and witness.
The Diocese of London is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults through the use of the Safer Recruitment practice guidance. This role is subject to acceptable pre-appointment checks, including a satisfactory Enhanced DBS Check.
Equal Opportunities
The Diocese of London is committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce which represents our context and wider community. We are aware that those of Global Majority Heritage/United Kingdom Minority Ethnic (GMH/UKME) and disabled people are currently under-represented among our clergy and workforce, and we particularly encourage applications from those with the relevant skills and experience that will increase this representation.
