During Ascensiontide (29 May to 8 June) Christians all over London will be turning their everyday journeys into prayer journeys, praying that God’s Kingdom would come where they are and that people would come to know Him.

Bishop Ric will be going on prayer journeys with everyday Christians over this time, which he will be recording and uploading to his social media. You can follow them on X and on Instagram. You can see where people are prayer journeying on the prayer walk app and add your own prayer.

Here in London Diocese, our Confident Disciples team and the Gregory Centre (CCX) have partnered in creating a Prayer Journeying practice, following in the footsteps of the Lent prayer practices, to use over Ascensiontide. Find out about the practice and download it  here.

Please encourage your congregations to turn their everyday journeys into prayer journeys this Ascensiontide. Maybe you could:

  • Show them videos of +Ric’s prayer journeys
  • Accompany them on prayer journeys
  • Teach about prayer journeys during Ascensiontide and introduce the prayer journeying practice.
  • Mention this movement on your own church media
  • Use the London prayer journeying app to record your prayer journey

Thy Kingdom Come Here

Thy Kingdom Come Here is a London initiative that encourages Christians to turn a journey into a prayer-journey.

It encourages people to walk their streets, to pray for God’s presence and love to be known there and to bless those living in that community, street or estate.

Individual journeys can be logged on a digital map (live from 1 May) so everyone can see street-by-street how their own prayer journey is part of a collaborative effort to cover their area or city in prayer.
