Brief notes of discussions:

  1. Details of who should take the should complete the raising awareness of domestic abuse training is available on the Diocese of London website here. The PSO National Group have created a series of safeguarding articles on contemporary issues including DA articles covering children, women and men.
  2. There was discussion on how to support people with dementia:
  • Raising awareness and speaking generally in the parish about people who may develop difficulties as they get older.
  • Make referrals to social services as a priority if you feel someone is vulnerable.
  • Get in touch with family if known.
  • Age Concern have free dementia training and resources.
  • Some local authorities offer training on familiarisation of age-related issues.
  • If people are offering to give lifts, they must go through proper checks and ideally have an additional person accompanying, perhaps on a rota basis as people giving lifts can be open to possibly unintentional allegations due to the mental health concerns.
  • Dementia Cafés.
  • Alzheimer’s Support Line: 0333 150 3456.
