About The Role
This historic west London Anglo-Catholic parish, with a long-established musical tradition, seeks to appoint a Director of Music from January 2026.
Organist in post, so the candidate need not be an organist.

Lead and develop the music at all services, directing the choir at the 11am
High Mass, Evensong & Benediction, festivals, and other special services
as agreed with the Vicar.
• Rehearse the choir, professional singers, and choral scholars for the 11am
High Mass and other occasions.
• Select and publish at least two months in advance the music for all
services (hymns, settings, anthems, voluntaries).
• Manage and recruit professional singers, choral scholars, and deputies;
oversee auditions.
• Curate and develop the Choral Scholarship Scheme (recruitment,
mentoring, training, and artistic direction), including the organ scholar.
• Manage volunteers involved in the music programme, including
administration, library, and event support.
• Maintain and develop the partnership with Chamber Music Box.
• Work with the Vicar and PCC to plan and deliver fundraising initiatives for
music, including scholarships and organ maintenance.
• Participate in Liturgy & Music Committee meetings and contribute to the
wider liturgical life of the parish.
• Liaise with those hiring the church or organ for concerts/recitals, and with
visiting musicians.
• Prepare and monitor the annual music budget, including music purchase.
• Report annually to the PCC on music in the church and on the condition
of the organ.
• Play or direct music for weddings and funerals as required (additional fees
payable).
• Suggest new initiatives to further community engagement with the musical
life of the church.
Essential:
A committed Christian who values and understands Anglo-Catholic
worship.
• An experienced choral director, able to inspire and develop both
professional and student singers.
• Knowledge of liturgical music and Anglican choral tradition.
• Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to
manage people and resources effectively.
• Creative vision for developing church music in a parish context.
Desirable:
Keyboard skills for rehearsals and service accompaniment; organ skills an
advantage but not essential.
• Experience managing volunteers.
• Experience in fundraising and partnership building.
• Experience running a scholarship or training scheme for young musicians.
• Experience curating concerts or events.
