Brief notes of discussions at this drop-in session are:
- The confidential declaration and safeguarding action plan for the previous year should be completed as soon as possible after 1st January 2025. Please complete the safeguarding audit for 2024 in March 2025 if there has not been any further guidance from the national church.
- If Basic or Foundation training is completed as a parish group, please send the names and email addresses of attendees to training@london.anglican.org and they can be sent a certificate. If an attendee does not have an email address, the certificate will be sent to the PSO.
- Please send suggestions about how to raise the profile of safeguarding in parishes and how to encourage people to engage more to safeguarding@london.anglican.org or bring it to the next drop-in.
- GDPR – you can keep records for the purpose for which they were intended.
- It is important to find ways to disagree with respect for each other.
- PSOs are there to champion safeguarding and make sure safeguarding is not swept under the carpet, rather than being experts. The Diocesan Safeguarding Team are there to answer any concerns or questions and PSOs are strongly encouraged to direct any queries into the team.
- There was some conversation about PSOs welcoming a reflective space where they can share how they are feeling about their role and feedback more generally on the role. Therefore the drop-in sessions will be extended and divided into two sections, the first 20 minutes being for procedural questions, and the second 20 mins being a reflective space.
