We write with deep gratitude for the contribution your church made towards Common Fund last year and for your ongoing commitment for this year.

The contributions of parishes and Bishop’s Mission Orders across the Diocese of London to Common Fund, together with diocesan funding from grants and investment income, makes possible the provision of stipendiary clergy, parsonages, extensive parish support and training a new generation of ministers. All of this enable our shared vision for every Londoner to encounter the love of God in Christ. In 2024, we know that the Church in the Diocese has once again grown in number, and we hear and see so many stories of lives changes and communities impacted. Thank you for the part you play in that ministry.

We are hugely encouraged by the committed contributions of parishes throughout the last year, despite continued financial pressure – an additional £1 million was given in 2024. We are very grateful too for the significant increase in commitments for 2025. In the midst of all the challenges in our Church, our collective ability to support communities of worship and witness in every part of the Diocese, irrespective of local wealth or context, remains a unique and vital contribution to Christian life and mission in the Capital.

We are thankful for each parish prayerfully determining to contribute as much as they can afford to Common Fund as wise stewards of God’s resource. That includes both those who are struggling at the moment, and those in a position to give more than their own costs of ministry so that others can be supported.

Thank you for your local leadership and example, and for the work and witness of your congregation in both living and speaking out the Good News of Jesus in these times.

As ever in Christ,
