Artwork competition for new church in Tottenham Hale opens for applications

The Bishop of London at the new worship space in Tottenham Hale

Spring 2017 will see the opening of a new church and community centre in Tottenham Hale, the first new church in a new place in the Diocese for 40 years. While the housing development has been going up, a small but growing congregation has meeting in Hale Village, seeking to build a thriving community hub, help local residents to reach their full potential and take the Gospel to the heart of the community.

As they move from their interim space into the newly built centre, the church community is looking to commission an artist to design and create a reredos which “reflects people, place and God”. This significant piece of art will hang behind the altar and act as a focal point during services.

The competition is now open. Artists are invited to submit a cover letter, their portfolio, price range and a sketch or sketches in response to the design brief. This should be sent to Elizabeth Harrison with the subject line “Artwork Competition” by the closing date of 9am on 30 August.

The design brief can be downloaded below.
