A series of termly lectures given by St Mellitus staff to enable clergy and lay ministers to re-energise and re-explore their passion for theology.
The Revd Dr Lincoln Harvey will explore the systematic connection between christology and trinitarian theology.
We will look to investigate the place of Jesus of Nazareth in the Trinity by offering a primer on the constructive theology of Robert W. Jenson. Jenson seeks to “baptize our metaphysics” by focussing entirely on the Easter event, with his underlying question centring on whether “Mary’s Boy and Pilate’s Victim” is really the Second Person of the Trinity forever enfleshed. We will ask what a positive answer to that question might mean for our life together in church.
Lincoln Harvey is Assistant Dean and Lecturer in Systematic Theology at St Mellitus College. He is author of Jesus in the Trinity: A Beginner’s Guide to the Theology of Robert Jenson (London: SCM Press, 2020), as well as A Brief Theology of Sport (London: SCM Press, 2014).
The lecture will start at 10.45 prompt and end by 12.15pm. An light sandwich lunch (including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options) will be provided.
