Main purpose of the role:
With strategic oversight, to plan, develop and implement the communications and media strategy for St
Stephen’s in line with the overall vision of the church: Loving God, Growing disciples, Transforming communities.

Key Objectives & Responsibilities
1. Strategic oversight
To plan, develop and implement an annual strategic communications strategy (academic year) to enable
the Strategic Leadership Team to communicate effectively and appropriately with key audiences,
stakeholders and other organisations to meet objectives as below:
 Communicate key information and messages to core (staff and congregation)
 Signpost means of entry into church life and community (newcomers and fringe)
 Grow engagement and reach (wider community)
 Ensure interconnectedness of in-person, online and hybrid church

  1. Planning and development
    On a daily basis, develop and strategically deploy different communications channels, including but not
    limited to: our website, update emails, social media, print, digital and verbal material in services (in
    person and online)
  2. Execution
    Advise on and effectively execute most appropriate type and style of communications depending upon
    context, circumstances, events and church programmes
  3. Team lead
     Line manage Creative Content Designer and Production Assistant, to include identifying areas of
    competency and supporting their ongoing development
     Lead weekly comms briefing
     Develop Comms Team architecture, including workflow, prioritisation and processes
     Develop volunteer strategy (Comms) and grow team
     Liaise with third parties (volunteers, consultants, others) to further develop communications
