About The Role

This post requires someone who can work with a diverse group of people, can communicate effectively and is self motivated. Hospitality should be a hallmark of your ministry and there should be a willingness to try new things. The area is fast changing and the volume of upheaval will demand, at times, adaptability and perseverance. It is a great pace for mission and service.

St John’s church is a traditional Anglican Church with a sacramental heritage with a wide love of the breadth of Anglican tradition. St Peter’s heritage was a similar tradition but its rebirth began with a more modern worship style and word based ministry. The area has grown from a working class base and its heart is hospitality and generosity – this has been vital to the growth in area and a key component for both our churches.

The aim of this role is to work with the leadership of the church to enable the realisation of its vision for two
growing Churches that serve the local community, grow in faith and demonstrate the breadth of Anglican tradition. The main responsibility of this role will be towards St Peter’s.

Leading St John’s and St Peter’s:
Leading St Peter’s as the Primary responsibility of this role supported by the Vicar
In the absence of the Vicar, or when the Vicar is unavailable, supporting St John’s.
Preach, teach and lead Sunday services and other church gatherings as required.
Lead on relationships with the development teams in the Cricklewood area of the Parish

Mission

To lead initiatives that share faith and witness to Christ
To engage with the local community in its transformation
Leading and overseeing the growth of people

Discipleship
To ensure that we become a disciple-making church
Leading and overseeing discipleship initiatives.

Pastoral Care
Support, develop and oversee teams and events for all ages.
Develop pastoral care initiatives as appropriate.
Support the pastoral care to support those in crisis/bereaved etc. e.g home
visiting/communion/hospital visits.

Strategy of the Parish (with the Vicar)
With PCC assist with the development of the Mission Action Plan for the Parish.
Hold, develop and communicate the vision for the Parish.
Identify and help secure (with Diocesan Support) a new building space, for St Peter’s
congregations, for worship services and community outreach

Knowledge and Experience
• Experience of working across traditions in the Church of England
• Experience of preaching and teaching the bible in a variety of contexts.
• Experience in planning and coordinating events and outreach, with a track record of starting new things
• Experience of leading others to faith and understandings of discipleship pathways.

Skills
• Able to work on own initiative and lead a team.
• Excellent planning and organisation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong leadership and pastoral skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• A leader who develops people and can builds a team.

Character
• Committed to seeking God’s glory through strengthening the local church and bringing the
gospel to the local community and beyond.
• Strongly relational with a genuine love for God’s people and desire to see them grow spiritually.
• Burdened to reach unbelievers with the good news of Jesus.
• A pioneering spirit who can discerns needs and respond with creativity.
• Willing to start new initiatives and take appropriate risks.

This role will be subject to an enhanced DBS check with barring and the associated confidential declarations.
