The Area Director of Ministry is a senior member of the Kensington Area Team, reporting to the Bishop of Kensington. They will be responsible for providing visionary leadership and ensuring good management in the following areas: fostering vocations to lay and ordained ministries; directing Ordinands; supervising post ordination training; overseeing clergy ministerial review, development and training; facilitating lay training programmes.

There is an occupational requirement that the job-holder is a Christian under the Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010.

Interview date – Tuesday 1 October 2019


  • The person appointed is likely to be an ordained priest within the Church of England. In addition to the required level of ordination, the role holder must have:
    • Strategic thinking
    • Be a good communicator
    • Strong gifts as a theological teacher and ministry trainer
    • Have a high level of organisational skills
    • Have a high level of emotional intelligence
    • The ability to manage pressure well
    • Have a high capacity to make good judgements
    • Possess clear and incisive decision-making skills
    • Demonstrate good conflict management skills
    • Experience in the area of encouraging vocations
    • Significant experience in effective parochial ministry
