At the latest Kensington Area event, young people and their leaders from churches gathered with Bishop Emma at St Alban’s, Acton Green to enjoy pizza, doughnuts, and an evening of comedy.
Paul Kerensa, stand-up comic and TV script writer (Top Gear, Miranda, Not Going Out) entertained with jokes, stories, games (have you heard of ‘Reverse Charades’?) and singing popular songs to alternative tunes. Who knew that ‘Silent Night’ sounded so good to the tune of ‘Postman Pat’?!

The second part of the evening was an opportunity to ask Paul questions about living as a Christian in the comedy world. Like, is it ok to tell jokes about Jesus?
Bishop Emma shared her own favourite joke (you’ll have to ask her) and a message of encouragement – inspired by St Catherine of Siena – for young people to “be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.”

Kensington Area aims to run one ‘Growing Younger’ area event each term, to provide opportunities for young people from across area churches to come together, be encouraged and equipped in their faith, as well as to celebrate being part of something bigger.
