In late 2013, God at Work commissioned a number of ambassadors for Christ at St Sepulchre’s Church (The National Musicians Church). These men and women are encouraged to live every day with a purpose and be intentional ambassadors in their chosen professions.
Bim studied Chemical Engineering at university and worked in Project and Design Engineering in the nuclear sector prior to re-training and pursuing a career as a Company Secretary. She is the Assistant Company Secretary at OCS Group UK Limited – an International Facilities Management business based in West Sussex. In this current role she provides legal, governance and compliance support to the business.
Bim commutes to work from the south of London and enjoys coming into the City at weekends and evenings.
For Bim, being an ambassador is all about standing out from the crowd: “It means not compromising my core Christian values – being humble by serving others, having a gracious attitude and manner to all I come into contact with every day and carefully considering the consequences of what I say.”
Workplace politics is a struggle for anyone who works with other people and the need to avoid being drawn into gossip and antagonisms is a daily battle for Christians who want to be salt and light in their workplace. Bim sees this as her biggest challenge and says: “one has to apply diplomacy and wisdom to avoid participating in the politics of the workplace – a practice which could easily distract one from the real goal – living every day with purpose.”
