About The Role

Working closely with the Outreach and Mission Co-ordinator, Kitty Lyons, and alongside other staff and volunteers, you will teach our English Language Classes with particular responsibility for the development of Beginner Level learners.

– Teach beginner level classes every Saturday from 10am-12pm
– Take responsibility for lesson planning
– Grow an awareness of the needs of the community and plan lessons according to their real life experiences in fun, creative ways

– An enthusiastic volunteer who is either qualified to teach ESOL or a native English speaker with some level of teaching experience.
– You do not need a teaching qualification, but we may be able to help
you work towards one.
– Teaching beginner English requires patience and generosity! We are
not teaching a specified curriculum or for exams, but to enable people to
express themselves comfortably and be part of a community.

Equal Opportunities

The Diocese of London is committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce which represents our context and wider community. We are aware that those of Global Majority Heritage/United Kingdom Minority Ethnic (GMH/UKME) and disabled people are currently under-represented among our clergy and workforce, and we particularly encourage applications from those with the relevant skills and experience that will increase this representation.
