About The Role

St Andrew’s, Thornhill Square is a significant heritage and community asset which is in urgent need of repair. Situated in a highly diverse part of Islington, the building is a vital anchor point for the local community – a place of hope, safety and care, open to all, that enables people to come together to worship, reflect, connect, and serve the local community.

Thanks to generous support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, we are delighted to be delivering ‘My Barnsbury: Past, Present and Future’. Through this exciting project, we aim to save our historic church building and enable much greater community use.

Overall project outcomes include:
● Undertaking urgent repairs to the historic building fabric.

● Fully adapting and refurbishing the interior to optimise space and to make the building more comfortable, accessible and flexible.

● Delivering an inclusive programme of heritage-led engagement, volunteering and skills development to reach diverse audiences, particularly children and young people, isolated older people, people with mental health conditions, and refugees and migrants.

We are currently recruiting for several contract roles to deliver the first year of this project.

Equal Opportunities

The Diocese of London is committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce which represents our context and wider community. We are aware that those of Global Majority Heritage/United Kingdom Minority Ethnic (GMH/UKME) and disabled people are currently under-represented among our clergy and workforce, and we particularly encourage applications from those with the relevant skills and experience that will increase this representation.
