Fees for Sunday and weekday services

These are the fees for clergy undertaking ‘occasional duty’.

Up to 31st December 2018 the recommended scale of fees for priests undertaking occasional duty was:

One service per Sunday £44
Two services per Sunday £50
Weekday service £33

From 1st January 2019 the recommended scale of fees for priests undertaking occasional duty is:

One service per Sunday £45
Two services per Sunday £51
Weekday service £34

Self-Supporting Ministers, Licensed Lay Ministers and clergy who already hold a stipendiary post are not eligible for these fees. Retired clergy are eligible for the full fee. Weddings and funerals have separate regulation; see Fees for baptisms, weddings and funerals.

Reasonable travel expenses should also be offered to all clergy:

Mileage rates:

Car (below 10,000 miles): 45p
Car (above 10,000 miles): 25p
Motorcycle 24p
Pedal cycle 20p
