It is important that the correct deductions are made for tax and national insurance and that all employees are paid the right amount for hours worked and on the stated date.

It is possible for the treasurer or someone else to deal with payroll and a number of accounting packages have a payroll module. However this is a complex area and it may well be advisable to outsource this to a specialist provider such as Stewardship.

If a PCC is using a firm of accountants for bookkeeping or other purposes they may well also be able to provide a payroll service for a reasonable fee.
