Confident Discipleship and Spiritual Formation

The importance of small Christ-centred groups of encouragement and formation have come to the fore at a time when we cannot gather in larger settings

Compassionate Communities

We continue to demonstrate the practical love of God to our communities through serving those most in need, being good neighbours and providing practical help. Here are some of the ways we are equipping churches to do this:

  • People are struggling in their mental health – ‘Shout’ is a 24 hour text service, and Bishop Sarah spoke about looking after our mental wellbeing in this webinar.
  • Let’s not forget the climate catastrophe and our prophetic voice for God’s creation. Join us in September to find out more about the “Eco Church” programme and how your church could get involved. Or consider organising your own Climate Sunday to explore the theological and scientific basis of creation care.
  • Find out more about Money Help Toolkits for individuals and families in debt. We hold weekly Virtual Coffee Mornings every Thursday for anyone supporting those who are struggling with money or debt issues – come along and chat, offload and share knowledge!
  • Respond to Modern Day Slavery taking place in communities – contact us if you’d like to join us for our next ‘Hidden Voices Training’.
  • If you are concerned about the housing crisis and how it is affecting individuals and families in your community, sign up for the next event in our three-part Housing Summit series, hosted by Right Revd Graham Tomlin. We will be helping parishes explore how we can campaign and organise, using our voice and power as churches to seek a better vision of housing in society.
  • In the wake of Covid, our young people need support like never before. Discover with us what becoming a mentor to a young person involves and how it could change their lives. You can also contact the Children and Youth team if you have any concerns about young people or youth violence in your community.

Growing Younger

Growing Younger means:

  • Growing in numbers of children and young people
  • Growing our discipleship of children and young people
  • Growing the number of younger leaders
  • Growing in our response to issues that matter to children and young people

There are many ways we can create space for children and youth to participate and contribute in our communities. Here are some key actions you can take:
