About The Role
The role of Children & Youth Pastor at St Marys West Kensington is to oversee the vision for young people in our parish. To develop a Children & Youth ministry. To support and grow young people in their faith, knowledge of the Bible, and understanding of being a disciple of Jesus. There is a genuine occupational requirement that the candidate is a Christian and there is enhanced DBS disclosure.
The Diocese of London is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults through the use of the Safer Recruitment practice guidance. This role is subject to acceptable pre-appointment checks, including a satisfactory Enhanced DBS Check.
Support and encourage young people to grow in their faith, knowledge of the bible, understanding of being a disciple of Jesus, awareness and capacity to live a Spirit-led life, and to become active members of their local church family.
To take a lead and responsibility for our work with children and young people from age 0-18s
Develop & co-ordinate a voluntary team to run St Mary’s Kids team
Working with the church leadership and members of church in growing links with local schools, nurseries and organisations working with children and young people to provide faith and outreach opportunities. These could include initiatives such as a Toddlers group; holiday clubs or other events.
To ensure that effective administration and record keeping is maintained for all aspects of the work
Pastor volunteers within children & youth.
Oversee all child protection and risk assessments, organising training and DBS checks for children and youth ministry at St Mary’s in liaison with St Mary’s Safeguarding Officer
• Passionate about teaching children and young people about Jesus
• Committed Christian
• Ability to recruit and train volunteer teams
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral
• Team player – able to work within a team and participate at team meetings/ events
• Proficient MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
• Proficient ChurchSuite skills
• Excellent organisational skills
• Self-motivated
• Flexible attitude to work and ministry
• Good interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Budget management
• Experience in working with children
• Understanding of the DBS and current child protection process
