Christians talk, indeed they worry a great deal about the immediate future and they also announce, sing, pray for, and imagine a future beyond all futures, the Kingdom of God. We don’t, though, have much to say about the distant future, the future from which our own times will seem as far off as our ancestors’ mammoth-hunting seems to us. Perhaps that’s sensible, why speculate about events that are neither the stuff of present urgency or the hope of final glory? We just leave them to Science Fiction…but should we?

Led by the Revd Dr Alan P R Gregory, Principal, St Augustine’s College of Theology
