The Robes Project Homeless Charity will be hosting their eight annual SleepOut on 30 November 2018 at Southwark Cathedral in aid of the winter night shelter. Churches take turns to host night shelters, which will allow up to35 individuals a place to sleep every night during the coldest 22 weeks of the coming winter.
George Martin, Chair of Trustees commented on the upcoming SleepOut:
“Homelessness is a major social issue in our city, with the number of rough sleepers doubling over the past 6 years. We are delighted that Southwark Cathedral will be hosting the eight annual SleepOut, which last year raised more than £143,000. The 250 people who came last year helped us address this problem, and we can offer a stepping stone out of homelessness and help people rebuild their lives. The SleepOut is a great way to do something tangible to make our communities stronger and help those in need.”
