Introducing VOCALISE: A resource for listening to young people

Capital Youth has launched VOCALISE, a new resource created with young people to help our churches connect with and listen well to teenagers.

Created in partnership with Ambassadors, the resource is a series of short videos filmed by five young people that explore what it’s like to be a young person who goes to some form of church or youth group today. The questions are simple, the answers are unscripted and the footage was decided by the young people involved. The video footage was turned into a short session that will help anyone start meaningful conversations with young people in their church.

The resource is designed to be used as a conversation starter primarily with a group of young people, but can be adapted for PCCs and small group formats, as well as used with large groups. The session can be run in one go, or split up to create more time to share experiences more deeply and form action points for the church to take forward.

The response to the resource so far has been very positive, with usage being planned by several churches and youth groups, with a chaplain planning to use it with their sixth form students.
