St Paul’s ministry opportunity

St Paul’s Cathedral has a small team of pastoral priest volunteers who come, usually monthly or quarterly, to be a pastoral presence in the cathedral and preside at the lunchtime Eucharist. Some come for the whole day, others for a morning or afternoon session. Cathedral clergy do pastoral cover, but together with our staff, volunteers and visitors we gain much from the wisdom and ministry of our visiting team. Pastoral priests also appreciate the opportunity to participate in cathedral ministry in this way, meeting a wide variety of people and having a different experience from work in their parishes.

As some team members have moved on, we are asking whether there are priests willing and able to share in this cathedral ministry. We are very aware of the burdens on parish priests and want to support them, not lay any burdens on them. But there may be some who are willing and able to offer some time, and we would be enormously grateful for this. Some curates and other clergy have taken this opportunity to explore cathedral ministry as part of their ministerial development, and we would welcome this too. If you would like to know more, please email our Chaplain, Revd Paula Hollingsworth, at: chaplain@nullstpaulscathedral.org.uk – and in any case, thank you all for your faithful ministry. We continue to pray for you all at St Paul’s.

The Very Revd Dr David Ison
Dean of St Paul’s
