Barbara

Christ Church Southgate recently commissioned a group of Ambassadors from their congregation, this is one of their stories:

“I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to stand up in Church and proclaim myself an Ambassador for Christ. As an Ambassador this has renewed my confidence to actively live my life according to the promises I have made.”

Barbara is 60, and has been a part of Christ Church Southgate for seven years. She is a servant-hearted ambassador who is very involved in serving the church community. She organises the Sunday coffee in Church with a team of parishioners who help her to run it. “Our Sunday coffee is very important as, after Sunday worship, it gives everyone the chance to have a good catch up and to welcome newcomers to the Church.”

Barbara has also been involved since January in helping at the night shelter on Wednesday evenings and with fundraising to support the shelter. “On chatting with our homeless guests I realised just how many terrible problems they have to overcome on a daily basis. These people are constantly in my prayers and I am so pleased to have been able to help them.”

For Barbara, the Church is very much part of her family – supporting her during challenging times, and keeping her faith strong. “When I was hospitalised my Priest and Assistant Priest were at the hospital supporting me as were my friends from Church. It made such a difference to my recovery. The strength of the faith surrounding me at that time was great. Now it is my turn to try and help others. I know the Lord will help me.”
