Letter of support from the Bishop of Berlin

The following letter of support has been received from Bishop Markus Dröge of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia.

Dear Bishop Richard, dear brother in Christ,

It is with great shock and alarm that I heard about the horrible tragedy that struck London, its people and, again, people from many countries the day before yesterday. It was Paris and Brussels and Berlin and it now is London (again). We are truly faced with an international problem. I am very much taken aback at the hopelessness that urges people to perpetrate acts of terror like this. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and my expression of deepest sympathy on behalf of the Evangelical Church of Berlin, Brandenburg and Silesian Upper-Lusatia! Director Herpich and Dr Theilemann of Berlin Mission join me in doing so and send you their warm greetings, too.

I can ensure you that your Diocese and all its people are very much in our thoughts and prayers. Our hearts go out to you and wherever the Brexit will lead Britain, please be assured that we will do everything in our power to keep and strengthen the wonderful bond of friendship in the Gospel that we have been sharing all these years. Thanks ever so much again for your leadership in this and for your clarity in spelling out to your people the importance of the link with Europe in general and Germany in particular. We do appreciate that!

Will you please also be so kind as to accept my best wishes for you and your family as you enter into an exciting new phase in your life! May our Lord Jesus Christ bless you all and keep you! Yours ever gratefully,

Dr Markus Droge
